What was the school looking for?
Hunwick Primary School required a solution that optimised efficiency and waste reduction in their school meal provision, whilst ensuring each pupil receives their preferred meal choice, therefore streamlining the processes in place and increasing overall satisfaction.
Saving administrative time was important as previously, Hunwick Primary School’s meal service was paper-based, and implementing a digital solution was crucial to streamline the entire school meal ordering process.
Following this, Hunwick Primary School wanted to reduce the amount of food wastage, having a digital solution to be able to see how many orders of meals in advance would significantly reduce the amount of food that was wasted.
What did Cypad offer?
Cypad provided an end-to-end digital meal pre-ordering solution that supplied them with the ability to centrally manage their menus and completely remove cash from their school meal process.
Meal Selection takes paper out of Hunwick Primary’s school meal provision, as the kitchen staff access meal numbers through an online report or our supplied tablet, saving time and money while reducing administrative tasks.
Our solution offered Hunwick Primary School the ability for children to use the interactive whiteboard to order meals from a bespoke menu, assisting in managing allergens and dietary requirements, and ensuring every child receives their chosen meal.
The results
Hunwick Primary School noticed the results immediately, the time spent balancing meal numbers had hugely reduced and were able to identify where there were errors. Meal Selection was used to make their school meal service efficient by managing pupils’ lunches within five to ten minutes, compared to lunches that previously took 45 minutes to organise.
Previously using paper-based menus for pupils to decide, children would often forget or change their minds about a meal they had selected. Using the whiteboard-based menu platform, this no longer happens. Cypad continues to save Hunwick Primary’s time on administrative tasks and paperwork.
Hunwick Primary School has seen an increase in the number of children participating in their school meal service and overall engagement since implementing Meal Selection – this is because parents are confident their child will receive the meal they ordered. Having the ability to choose what they want to eat in the morning provides an enjoyable format for pupils to select healthy and nutritious school meal options.
